The data is along expected lines but finally happy to see the bifurcation out in public. Direct plans have witnessed more than 9 lakh SIPs getting canceled on a net basis. Gross number is likely to much higher! Regular plan SIPs have still continued to grow and are adding more SIPs. I further expect that within the Regular plans, the individual/national distributor channel would have added much more SIPs than banks and other channels. Hoping to see that data in public as well. What we have witnessed is a routine 20% fall in many indices and not even a full fledged correction yet. It is a clear indication that investors who are not guided are already starting to take rash decisions that they could regret in the long term. If markets fall further I expect this trend will further worsen. Are all the DIY apps that push customers to save fees really helping if the end customer is not even staying invested in the first place? Is it better for investors to receive proper guidance and make 12% returns or exit with a loss but be content that they did not pay any fee? Is the investment objective - to create wealth or to save cost? Very important thoughts to ponder!
